According to the Holy Kuran, Prophet Ibrahim had willingly surrendered his son at the command of Allah, and to this day his selfless act is rejoiced by the practitioners of Islam. In honour of Id-ul-Zuha, namaz is first offered in mosques followed by distribution of the sacrificed meat. A gala feast is held in all Muslim households in Srinagar and friends and family come together to celebrate this auspicious event.
