Ensconced high over a small hillock, surrounded by a staggering 25 acres of Kerala’s best fruit, spice and coffee plantations is Serenity, the former abode of a planter, aptly named due to its surrounding tranquility. Built in the 1920’s on the Kanam Estate, it features six traditional, yet modern rooms to make your stay enchanting and comfortable. Locally sourced furnishings add vibrancy to the fan cooled rooms and wodden and cane furniture give it a period feel.
Serenity has numerous verandas and a huge indoor sitting room to huddle up with a book, or just enjoy the flow of things, while those who want to burn some calories can do so at the pool or the yoga room. A traditional Ayurvedic Spa finds a place at Serenity and guests love the calmness and energy boost they feel after a session. A limited choice but delicious meal can be enjoyed indoors or in the courtyard after getting up close and personal to an elephant or a sweaty bicycle ride to a nearby village and back. Guided tours on the estate can also be arranged to see the production of tropical plants, rubber and spices and understand the nuances of what goes on at the property.
