Delhi, the capital of India and one of the oldest cities of the world, is unlike any other city on the planet. It's a place that not only touches your pulse but even fastens it to a frenetic speed. With a history that goes back many centuries & empires, Delhi showcases an ancient culture and a rapidly modernising country. From the labyrinth of narrow lanes, old havelis and colourful bazaars of Old Delhi to the best features of a modern city such as a metro system, gleaming malls, bustling markets and fabulous eating places; the past and the present mix seamlessly together in Delhi.

Centuries-old monuments are a part of the city's daily life. An array of historical sites including the World Heritage Sites of Red Fort, Humayun's Tomb and Qutub Minar rest amongst several historical treasures in Delhi's possession. Add to this the presence of diverse cultures, sprawling greenery, rich architecture and a famed cuisine, and Delhi becomes one of the undisputed highlights of the country.

Our search of the illusive magic starts in Old Delhi.

Tour of Old Delhi will tantalize us with delights such as the Parathewali Gali-a whole street lined with shops specializing only in Parathas, a special flat bread which is stuffed with all kinds of vegetables, cheeses, spices and everything else the chefs fancy! Watch them create master pieces using exotic flours, spices, vegetables and other ingredients.

These simple melt-in-your-mouth delicacies will leave you craving for more long after you return home. We continue our quest, still in Old Delhi and on to the famous bazzar- Chandni Chowk-bustling with commerce and enterprise. Spices are the specialty of Khari Baoli, be prepared to be assaulted by exotic smells and fragrances.

All the secrets of the Moghul Emperors Royal kitchens have been passed on from one generation to another and form the basis of Moghul Cuisine. Here in this area of Old Delhi you will sample the most delicate kabobs cooked to perfection in tandoors and served with Roomali Rotis-a melt in your mouth "handkerchief" bread. Watch the masters prepare this unique "bread" that takes the shape of a handkerchief and can measure up to 3 feet x 3 feet

An extensive sight-seeing tour of New Delhi would include a visit to the Humayun's Tomb, the Qutub Minar, a drive along the ceremonial avenue - Rajpath, past the imposing India Gate, Parliament House, the President's Residence and would end with a drive through the Diplomatic Enclave

Evening we will take you to a local restaurant where you can enjoy the various variety of Indian specialty cuisines.

 

Agra (1 night)

Agra

Agra is an ancient city on the banks of the River Yamuna. It finds mention in the Mahabharata but gained importance as the capital of the Mughal Empire from 1556 - 1658. It is on the Golden Triangle tourist circuit with Delhi and Jaipur. It is famous for its Mughal architecture and for being home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Taj Mahal - a monument of incredible elegance and architectural perfection. Agra has many other famous archeological sites and is famous for its marble inlay work and its leather industry that manufactures shoe uppers for some of the best shoe companies in the world.

Activities

Visit one of the most beautiful of the seven wonders of the world: The Taj Mahal. Afterwards you will visit the Agra Fort, which is surrounded by a wall of red sandstone.

Evening dinner at Daawat-e-Nawab - anIndian Specialty Restaurant. Evening entourage are entertained with mushairas (poetry and literature), shayaris (couplets), thumris (a genre of classical music) and kathak (an expressive dance form).

 

Ramathra (2 nights)

Ramathra

The quaint township of Ramathra is a virgin travel destination in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It lies at the base of the hill, hosting the celebrated Ramathra fort that sees a trickle of tourists all year. People, who tend to visit, spend their holiday exploring the grandiose Ramathra Lake that is excellent for bird-watching. Travelers who desire to experience a delightful sojourn in the rustic Ramathra also get the opportunity to gain a unique understanding of the simple country life in the desert township.

Activities

During the walking tour of the Ramathra village a small hamlet of farmers and herders, you will have to the opportunity to interact with these simple villagers, get a glimpse of their daily life as the farmers tend to their crops and animals.

The highlight of this evening is a demonstration of the Rajasthani Ghumer dance. Gitanjali Rajpal, the beautiful and graceful hostess of the Fort will personally guide you through the steps and translate the rather provoking lyrics. Be prepared to be thoroughly intoxicated by this mesmerizing performance.

 

Jaipur (2 nights)

The capital city of the desert state of Rajasthan, Jaipur is reminiscent of the royal way of life that was once integral to this region. Today it is fondly referred to as the “Pink City” because of the trademark structures that sit here.

Activities

AMBER FORT PALACE - Amber is the classic romantic Rajasthani fort palace. Its construction was started by Man Singh I in 1592, and completed by his descendent Jai Singh I. Its forbidding exterior belies an inner paradise where a beautiful fusion of Mughal and Hindu styles finds it's ultimate expression. Continue sight-seeing of Jaipur visiting City Palace, Hawa Mahal etc.

Dinner with noble family of three generations in Jaipur at their ancestral house. Sankotra Haveli was built in the 17th Century when Jaipur town was founded and was granted to the Sankotra Family in 1668. It has its own unique charm, being very close to Sanganeri Gate, the main entrance to Johari Bazaar.

 

Khimsar (2 nights)

Once a petite kingdom, the village of Khimsar is today a quaint tourist destination in the state of Rajasthan. Set cozily along the perimeter of the sizzling Thar Desert, the township brings forth the beauty of rural India. True to its extreme dessert climate, Khimsar is best visited during the winter months. It has a host of new experiences in store for tourists who can explore Khimsar while enjoying a sojourn at the exotic Heritage Hotel.

Activities

Visit the Khimsar Fort. The Khimsar Fort is on the edge of the great Thar Desert & is one of the main attractions in Khimsar.

Excursion to Khimsar Dunes village and enjoy a camel safari & visit nearby hutments to witness the lifestyles of rural folk. In the evening enjoy the sensational sunset on the sand dunes.

 

Rohet (2 nights)

Rohet is a quaint village in the Pali district that exudes the charm of rural Rajasthan. Encircled by the majestic Thar Desert, the village was once ruled by the mighty Rathore clan. It is home to the Rohet fortress and lake along with a quirky shrine dedicated to the Bullet Baba that makes an intriguing visit. The village is located a little to the south of Jodhpur making it the perfect desert village to head to for a rejuvenating vacation.

Here you can enjoy a Royal Picnic- a great extension of safaris on horse, the Royal Picnic is a grand recreation of a bygone era, where you are waited upon by liveried attendants; large mattresses with bolsters and soft cushions spread next to a soothing water body invite you to kick up your feet, Showcasing the best of the land, it is a complete cultural experience, which encompasses all that this region has to offer. From the warm and hospitable people, to the various customs and ceremonies and the abundant wildlife, guests have the rare privilege of being welcomed into people's homes and interacting with them.
