Ranvas – the abode of the Queens (Rani – queen, Vas – Home) is situated in the Ahhichatragarh Fort, more commonly known as the Nagaur Fort. It was the erstwhile residence of the Ranis of the former Maharaja of Jodhpur, Bhakt Singh. Built in the 18th century, each of the 10 Haveli’s housed one of the Raja’s queens and today, thoroughly restored, these haveli’s that have been refurbished into opulent suites, are named after the Rani who resided there.
To find refugee from the constant battles, Bhakt Singh built this pleasure palace within the fortress, which even today houses the artistic paintings and shows off the former grandeur of the era, offering a distinct insight into the times and lives of the royals three centuries ago. Contemporary touches have been added to the lavish suites to present a comfortable stay for guests and the conclave holds a spa, swimming pool and also two world class restaurants which serve a mixed fare of local Mughal Sufi and International fare that leaves gourmands wishing for more. Ranvas is an excellent place to experience royal living like they did in the ancient times.
