Walking Tours

Even though the quintessential “bazaar” scene in Old Delhi has transformed into a relatively modern one that caters to a host of products people back in the days couldn’t dream of, the overall brouhaha and charm continues to be just the same.

In this tour, you are but right in the middle of all the action at Chandni Chowk, without doubt the busiest market area in the entire city.

This market is about 500 years old and was constructed during the life and times of Emperor Shahjahan. Today, visitors are able to explore a host of small and medium sized shops that sell silverware, cloth, delectable street food and a host of traditional items.

With an aim to allow our visitors to explore the cultural landscape of this busy market, we take you to the following highlights.

• Dariba Kalan – the Silver Market
• Kinari Bazaar – the Wedding Market
• The Paranthewali Galli
• Gurudwara Sees Ganj Sahib for its historical significance
• Jama Masjid
• We will also pass through a few Jain Derasars, Hindu Temples and Churches that highlight the secular tapestry of India.

TOUR NOTES: Please note, the food on the street is delicious but does not meet national or international hygiene standards. Although we only go to very popular places, with good local reputations, these stalls do not cook using bottled water or wash their utensils with it. So eating street food is always risky. If you prefer not to risk it, but still want to see what it’s all about, then at the end of the walk, we can take you to Haldirams where you can try chaats and other popular dishes in safe and hygienic conditions.
