Tour Consists Of:
• Visit one of Emperor Ashoka's Rock Edicts at Dhauli, which are among India’s most treasured pieces of written history. This edict is carved into the mountain face, with a sculpted elephant above it, which is currently India’s oldest known rock-cut architecture.
• We also visit a grand World Peace Pagoda at Dhauli, which was built in 1972.
• At the Pagoda, we learn a lot about the life of Buddha through the beautiful sculptures and panels describing incidents from his life on the stupa and get panoramic views of the countryside as well.
• Enroute, we visit Hirapur, the site of India’s best known yogini temple. Said to have been developed in the 6th or 7th century AD, the yogini cult comprises of temples which are unique open-air circular structures, believed to be used for tantric practices.
• Here we learn more about the goal of these yogini practices like obtaining siddhi powers and supernatural abilities.

WHAT TO WEAR: Please dress modestly, Wear comfortable walking shoes and ensure you have adequate sun protection.

TOUR NOTES: Please note, the food on the street is delicious but does not meet national or international hygiene standards. Although we only go to very popular places, with good local reputations, these stalls do not cook using bottled water or wash their utensils with it. So eating street food is always risky. If you prefer not to risk it, but still want to see what it’s all about, then at the end of the walk, we can take you to Haldirams where you can try chaats and other popular dishes in safe and hygienic conditions.
