Often referred to as the “Sun City”, it is named so because of the bright sunny weather that continues to bless these lands all year round. This enchanting dessert city was founded by the then chief of the Rathore Clan, Rao Jodha way back in 1459. Formerly referred to as Marwar, this is the second largest city in the state and offers charming experiences through the Old and New parts.
The Dominating Walls of Jodhpur
The old City of Jodhpur is separated by a 10 km wall that borders it. These walls also have 8 gates that act as the entry and exit points for these parts. The area right outside the walled region is considered to be the New City.
