This ancient festival is celebrates the new year and the start of seeding time, the completion of sowing and transplanting and eventually the end of the harvesting year.

Bohaag Bihu, the most significant of them all is enjoyed with local folk song and dance where villagers move about dressed in their very best, forming circles where the prettiest girls dance to get right in the centre. The songs represent love and romance and are composed with the help of rhyming couplets.
