In this Tour:
• Before the walk commences, your guide will provide an introduction to the history of Cochin and the events that have shaped it.
• See St Francis Church (India’s oldest European Church) built by the Portuguese Franciscan Friars.
• View the Chinese Fishing nets that Cochin is famous for.
• See the Nehru Children’s Park area and the interesting houses that ring the park (Koder House, Tower House, Old Harbour Hotel).
• Look at the breathtaking Fort Immanuel (the bastion of the Portuguese).
• See the Dutch Cemetery.
• Take a walk past the seaside promenade and beach to experience the life of the locals, and continue towards Bishop’s House Road, past its beautiful old-style homes.
• See the Union Club Building and the magnificent Santa Cruz Basilica.
• The walk ends with tea/coffee at a local café (Teapot/Café Coffee Day) on Princess Street.

WHAT TO WEAR: Please dress modestly and ensure you have adequate sun protection.

TOUR NOTES: Please note, the food on the street is delicious but does not meet national or international hygiene standards. Although we only go to very popular places, with good local reputations, these stalls do not cook using bottled water or wash their utensils with it. So eating street food is always risky. If you prefer not to risk it, but still want to see what it’s all about, then at the end of the walk, we can take you to Haldirams where you can try chaats and other popular dishes in safe and hygienic conditions.
