Nainital

Nainital is a breathtakingly stunning hill station based in Uttarakhand at an elevation of 6,837 ft over sea level. Cheena or Naini Peak is its biggest peak, set at an extraordinary height of 2,615 mt. The hill station draws in scores of tourists each year who wish to sojourn in the charming town encircled by mountains. A fabulous cable car ride takes travelers to Snow View at a height of 7,450 ft to enjoy a marvelous vision of the Himalayas.

The Tranquil Lake Naini

The town is named after Lake Naini located in the middle of Nainital. The lake resembles the shape of an eye and is frequented by travelers who sojourn at the nearby hill resort. There are boating opportunities for visitors, many of whom choose to simple soak in the enchanting beauty of the tranquil lake.

Tourism in Nainital

Travelers can visit the ancient Naina Devi Temple based close to Lake Naini. The shrine is built in honor of the Goddess who is symbolized by doe eyes and accompanied by figurines of Devi Kali and God Ganesh. Pt. G.B. Pant High Altitude Zoo is the only one of two in the country where tourists can spot the mysterious Siberian tiger, snow leopard. Also to be spotted are mammals such as the goat antelope Ghooral and Serao. The striking caves and musical fountains at Eco Cave Gardens are also worth a short day trip.

The winter months of October and November are ideal for visiting the Himalayan town as they present the best views of the snow capped mountains.
