PUSHKAR FESTIVAL
Pushkar is an ancient religious town, in the Thar desert of Rajasthan.
For 12 days in the Hindu month of 'Kartik' a flood of pilgrims arrive in
carts, on camels or on foot to transform the place around Pushkar Lake
into a spectacular fairground, the largest in the country, and world
famous. Thousands of tribals, pilgrims come with their camels and
cattle, to transact business. On the night of the full moon (Kartik)
hundred of devotees bathe and worship in the shimmering waters of the
Pushkar Lake. There are various folk entertainments and delights in the
dazzling wares of hundred of roadside stalls.
The fair is overwhelming in its magnitude and in its visual impact.
Evenings at the Pushkar Fair have their own charm when thousands of
campfires light up under the starlit dark blue sky. Ballads, folk
dramas, skits and folk dances are organised for tourists.
Day :

Arrive Delhi. Met by
India Calling representative and transfer to hotel. Afternoon tour of
Old
Delhi. Overnight at hotel.

Breakfast. Drive to Agra
enroue tour of Akbar’s Tomb of Sikandra. On arrival check-in at hotel.
Afternoon tour of Agra Fort and Taj Mahal. Overnight at the hotel.

Breakfast. Drive to
Gwalior. On arrival check-in at the hotel. Visit the Fort Palaces and
temples within its massive walls, Man Mandir Palace, Gujar Mahal Palace,
Jai Vilas Palace and museum ( residence of the erstwhile Royal family “
Scindia’s).

Breakfast. Drive to
Shivpuri, originally the hunting lodge of the Maharaja of Gwalior in the
midst of a forest, its now a wildlife sanctuary, Madhav National Park,
within the park are two lakes Sakya Sagar, Madhav Sagar, Marble
Cenotaphs, george Castle and the mineral spring at Bhadaia Kund.
Overnight at hotel.

Breakfast. Drive to Kota.
On arrival check-in at hotel. Visit Maharana Madho Singh Museum and Kota
fort – visit Bundi Fort which is illuminated in the evening . Overnight
at the hotel.

Breakfast. Day trip to
historic city of Jhalawar Fort built in 1836 by raja Madan Singh,
Bhawani Natyashala ( a theatre built on the lines of an European opera
house), Surya Temple, Jain Temple of Shantipath, Dargah of Hazrat Khwaja
–ud – Chisti Khorasam. Return to Kota for overnight.

Breakfast. Drive to
Udaipur. On arrival check-in at hotel. At leisure. Evening boat cruise
on Lake Pichola. Overnight at hotel.

Breakfast. Visit City
Palace, Museum, Jagdish Temple, Sahelion-ki-bari, drive past Fateh Sagar
Lake to Pratap Smarak. Overnight at the hotel.

Drive to Pushkar ( Ajmer)
On arrival check-in at the camp. Attend Pushkar Cattle fair a
spectacular riot of colour, with villages trading in camel, handicraft.
Watch camel cart races, folk dances and musicians in high spirit.
Accommodation will be in tented camps near the fair grounds. Pushkar is
also a Hindu Pilgrimage centre and devotees bath in the Lake on full
moon days during the festival. Since most Hindu festivals are governed
by lunar cycle, the auspicious dates vary from year to year.

excurstion to Amber fort with an elephant ride. Afternoon visit City
Palace, Museum, Observatory, Hawa Mahal, Albert Hall, Johari Bazzar.
Overnight at hotel.

Breakfast. Drive back to
Delhi and on arrival check-in at the hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Transfer to airport for
onward flight.
