Our Trips - Special Interest Tours - Plan A Wedding

India – stranger than fiction, that charms and yet bewilders you with her sheer size and complexity. She is a whole continent contained in a country – over a million kilometers of awesome sights with a plethora of races, religion, cultures and traditional events, enough to make your head reel in wonder. One such sight is an Indian Wedding. From a millionaire to a rag picker, weddings mean an ultimate to an Indian. Come what may, everyone turns up in the traditional finery. Women laden with gold and gems studded jewellery, wrapped in six yards of silk and brocade sarees, with mehandi (henna) tattooed in intricate designs on their hands and feet. Men with flowing brocade achkan, chooridar and safa tied on their head are no less a spectacle.

India is a country, where from frozen Himalayas to the sweltering southern beaches, a wedding is a pageantry, lavish show of pomp and bellyful of mouth dribbling cuisine, Tandoori Kebabs, Fish Tikka, Rogan Josh, Sarson-ka-saag, Makki-di-roti, Sherbet and sweet meats from Rabri to Gajar-ka-halwa to Kulfi, Hot Gulab Jamuns and juicy Jalebi.

India Calling’s Incentive Division has to been having fun organizing these weddings for the past decade. Imaginative settings of creation of a whole village chowpal with snake charmers, monkey dances, bears on trapeze. A canopied howdah over bedecked elephant with the groom, proceeds to meet the bride, awaiting with the “barmala” on a platform stage decked with millions of flowers. A pandit chanting the wedding mantras, accompanied by Shenai walas, giggling girls showering flowers and rice on the couple, parents and parents in law exchanging dowry. A trousseau including a modern limousine exchange hands. The baratis with their bursting bellies chewing paan and masala. The sight is just amazing. It can only happen in India!!

To marry in style…arrange your wedding in India with India Calling.
