The multi–faceted Indian concept of religious tolerance is evidence
enough as you travel through the Indian peninsula on this tour. A rich
fusion of Hindu and Jain Temple heritage, Buddhist art and Mughal
architecture is all brought together in a Kaleidoscope of history. A
superb group of erotic Chandela temples at Khajuraho, Buddhist Stupas at
Sanchi, Ujjain and the medieval town of Mandu, you travel to the fresco
paintings and rock hewn Viharas ( monastic residences) of Ajanta which
carry the message of Lord Buddha. Hidden in an isolated glen, these
caves are an architectural marvel. Hyderabad with its domes and
minarets, palaces and colourful bazzars, spilling over with silks,
pearls, ittar ( perfumes) and glittering glass bangles, the Char Minar,
Golconda fort, Salarjung museum, the ancient Buddhist site of
Nagarjunakonda. Emperors, kings and even holy men held sway over the
cultural and historic milieu of South India from the 3rd century B.C.
Artists, artisan, sculptors, musicians and poets were supported by the
rulers to sustain their aspirations, Though most of their creations have
vanished with time, we still see many of their expressions left behind
as World Heritage sites. The Vijayanagar ruins at Hampi which date back
to 14th Century and the temple complex at Pattadakal, the grandeur of
13th Century Viajayanagar Empire lie scattered among the hills and by
the banks of the Tungabhadra River, later you visit the 5th and 6th
century Chanakya temples at Aihole, the awe inspiring Cave temples of
Badami, provide evidence of the rich historical heritage of this region
, as identified by UNESCO. After the hectic road journey, relax for a
couple of nights at the famed beach resort of Goa before returning home.

Arrive Delhi. Transfer to Hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Breakfast. Morning tour of New Delhi. Afternoon tour of Old Delhi.

Breakfast. Transfer to airport for flight to Khajuraho. Afternoon
tour of Chendella Temples – Kandhriya Mahadev, Devi Jagdamba Lakshman
Temple, Chitragupta and Causathi Yogini Temples.

Breakfast. Drive to Orcha, founded in 16th Century by the Budela
Rajput Chieftan Rudra Pratap. These 16th & 17th Century temple along the
river Betwa Depict a poignant history, each of the shrines contributing
to the nostalgic beauty of Orcha. You will see some exquit paintings,
patronized by the 17th century ruler Raja Bir Singh Ju Deo. Palaces of
visit – Jehangir Mahal, raj Mahal, Rai Parveen Mahal, Anand Mahal, ram
Raja Temple, chatubhuj Temple, Laxminarayan Temple, Phoolbagh, Dinman
Hardaul’s Palace, Chhatries – centophs built in memory of the rulers of
Orcha at Kanchana Ghat the royal burial grounds along the river Betwa.
Overnight in Orcha.

Early wake up call. Breakfast. Drive to Bhopal en-route visit the
Buddhist pilgrimage site of Sanchi with its magnificent Stupa, 4th
Century Gupta Temples and Ashoka Pillar. Overnight at hotel.

06
Breakfast. Day trip to the temple town of Bhojpur, visit Bhojeshwar
Temple, Shiva Temple and Cyclopean Dam. Thereafter proceed to Bhimbetka.
A world heritage site, these 600 rock Shelters belonging to the
Neolithic age with murals and frescos depicting the life of prehistoric
cave dwellers, an invaluable Chronicle in the history of man. Thereafter
drive to Indore. Overnight at hotel.

Breakfast. Visit the ruins of the ancient University at Ujjain a
great centre of Buddhist teachings which the Chinese scholar Hieun Tsang
visited in 5th Century B.C. The ruins of the ancient university town are
still very impressive. Return to Indore for Overnight.

Breakfast drive to Mandu enroute visit the temple town of Omkarshwar.

Breakfast. At leisure in Mandu. Overnight at hotel.

Breakfast. Drive to Dhule. Overnight at hotel.

Breeakfast Drive to Aurangabad enroute visit the Ajanta Caves date
back to 200 BC. These cave have frescos and paintings illustrating
episodes from the life and teachings of Lord Buddha. Check-in to hotel
in Aurangabad.

Breakfast. Excursion to Ellora Caves. The caves have Buddhist, Jain
and Hindu sculptures dating between 600 to 800 AD of the 34 caves, 12
are Buddhist, 17 Hindu and 5 Jains. The most exquite sculptures are the
temple of Kailash ( Lord Shiva) carved out of a single rock, with a
massive gateway, a courtyard, elaborately sculpted Shikaras . Thereafter
visit Daulatabad Fort built in 14th Century by Mahammed Bin Tuglaq,
emperor of Delhi. Overnight at hotel.

Breakfast. Transfer to Airport for flight to Mumbai. Transfer to
hotel. Afternoon city tour visiting Prince of Wales, Museum, Mani Bhawan,
Hanging Garden, Kamla Nehru Park, Mahalaxmi Temple, drive past crawford
Market, Victoria Terminus. Optional visit the beach at Marine drive and
Chowpati.

Breakfast. Morning motor launch excursion to the Elephanta Cave
Island from the Gateway of India Pier. Thereafter explore the shopping
areas at Colaba Causeway, Cuffe Parade. Afternoon transfer to airport
for flight to Hyderabad. Transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Breakfast. Visit Mecca Masjid an immense mosque that can accommodate
a congregation of 10000 devotees at prayers. Proceed to the most famous
landmark, the Charminar, located in the heart of Hyderabad with a
bustling bazzar surround the monument. Hyderabad is famous for the Pearl
market and seintilating glass bangles to be found in the fascinating
bazzars around Charminar. Rest of the afternoon spend the Salar Jung
Museum – the personal collection of Nawab Salar Jung III, an unusual man
with a passion for collecting rare objects –de-art, specialty in the
clock gallery and his jewels. Overnight at hotel.

Breakfast. Drive to Bijapur enroute tour of Gulbunga visiting Fort,
mosque and temples. Transfer to hotel. After tour of Bijapur – an
ancient Muslim capital, visit the Gol Gumbaz, Mosques and other
mausoleums. Overnight at hotel.

17
Breakfast. Drive to Badami an ancient capital of the Chalukya rulers,
enroute visit Pattadakal and Aihole ( Aivalli). The rich architectural
evidence left by the rulers of the Chalukya dynasty between 4th to 8th
AD at Aihole, Badami, Pattadakal has a befitting gift by the UNESCO to
declare these momental ruins as a World Heritage site.

Breakfast. Visit the Ancient ruins of the rock cut caves and temples
at Badami. Proceed to Hospet via tour of the World Heritage site of
Hampi, the 14th Century capital of the powerful Vijayanagar empire
scattered among hills on the banks of the Tungabhala River, are the
ruins spread over 14 kms of temples, palaces with fire sculpture of the
Vittala Temple with musical pillars and stone Chariot, Purandaradasa
Mandapa and the Lotus Mahal. Overnight at Hospet.

Breakfast. Drive to Dandeli wildlife resort. Afternoon game viewing.
