Vivanta by Taj Sawai Madhopur Lodge
Heritage
Ranthambore National Park, Rajasthan
High End
Ranthambore’s sole heritage hotel, Vivanta by Taj – Sawai Madhopur Lodge has been refurbished from an eight decade old lodge that has served as an imperative hunting stop for Jaipur’s Maharaja’s. A mere five kilometers from the present railway station of Ranthambore, decades ago, these vast grounds used to house tents pitched up for the enjoyment of the Royal family and their guests. Even today, not much has changed – the grandiose dining hall, bar and lounge have been preserved from the time of its inception in its erstwhile art-deco style, while the latest impeccable addition – the veranda is also reminiscent of times bygone. Making way for opulent, spacious and well adorned suites and rooms, the tents have all but vanished. Though the spirit of the hunting grounds prevails, a contemporary touch definitely makes its presence felt.
