Surrounded by 200 acres of spectacular blooms in various shades and a coffee plantation, School Estate in Coorg initially served as a home to Reverand Rictor, one of colonial India’s early missionaries to the picturesque town of Coorg in Southern India. Today, School Estate has been transformed into a home-stay that serves as an excellent getaway. Managed by KK Aiyappa and his wife Rani, one can be assured of experiencing magnificent hospitality amidst all the comforts of living at home.
School Estate offers just four guestrooms that come with en-suite baths which are conventionally pleasant. Guests get to experience traditional Coorgi life and get an insight into the traditions of these people who excel in martial arts. A well stocked in-house bar supplies accompaniments to each course, be it continental cuisine or authentic Coorgi food, prepared using Rani’s old family recipes. While on the estate, one can take long, fascinating walks while inhaling the scent of coffee or gorge on a picnic at the riverbank. Those interested can enjoy a round of golf with the host and others can huddle-up in a quiet corner with a book. Excursions can be arranged to the family’s two century old ‘clan house’ and the surrounds.
