Snuggled in a verdant and untouched spot of rustic Kerala, the story of Olavipe Homestay is a revered Keralan tale. Long ago, a small emerald islet surfaced from the confines of the Kaithappuzha backwaters and fascinated locals. Astounded by the beauty of this place, they named it Olavipe – a gift of the waves. Civilization developed on it, but remained untouched by the passage of time. This tiny village has been home to 13 known generations of the ‘Parayil Tharakans,’ a Syrian Catholic family that consisted of land owners. Their home, ‘Thekkanat Periyal’ is positioned in the heart of a bustling farm, amidst ancient trees and chirping birds that coexist in peace with the dazzling backwaters.
