Vishu is marked with customary offerings to the divine, known as Vishukanni. Consisting of revered articles like betel leaves, cucumber, rice, linen, matal mirror, uruli and the holy text, it is believed that the Vishukanni or Kani Kanal is the first thing that people should lay their eyes on every new year morning. Wearing new clothes and jewellery, people delightfully burst firecrackers and dig into traditional homemade feasts.
