Ramnavmi, the birth celebration of Lord Rama sees great pomp and fervour amongst Hindu’s worldwide. Born to the King and Queen of Ayodhya – Dashrath and Kaushalya, on the ninth day (navmi) of Chaitra, Lord Rama was the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

On this day, the very air of Ayodhya is filled with exhilaration as people take to the streets in huge congregations and proceed to the Holy River Saryu for a cleansing dip. Scriptures of the Ramayana are read, devotees pray to their humble Lord and take out Rath Yatras (chariot processions) and actors donning the disguises of Ram, Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman take rounds of the divine city.
