Abode of the Gods

The word “Tadoba” has been derived from the name of God. A common belief of the inhabitants living in this region is that the God Tadoba presides in the forests here. The beautiful Andhari River flows through it and has its own magical charm. Tadoba also has a temple of God Taru which is visited by the locals here during a fair held in the month of December.

The park organizes jungle safaris which can be booked beforehand and can be easily accessed via Nagpur. The nearest airport is Dr Bababsaheb International Airport while the nearest railway station is Chandrapur.

It is believed that the Gond kings used to rule this region and in 1955 the place was transformed into a National Park.

About the Tiger Reserve About 43 tigers still reside in this region. To the southwest of this reserve there is the Tadoba Lake where one can find Muggar crocodiles. The reserve is surrounded by dense forests and is home to different species of deciduous trees.
