An excellent base to consider when exploring the other remote parts of the Rann of Kutch, this town was founded a little over 600 years ago by the then local ruler, Maharao Hamir. With a rich and vibrant history that goes back to the times of Alexander the Great and even before than during the exile of the Pandavas in the Mahabharata, this town has been of historical significance for generations.
In spite of being inflicted by a major earthquake over a decade ago, the town continues to play an important role in the Kutch District. While you spending a few nights here, you may want to spend your time exploring the local sights and delving deeper into the local way of life.
