UDAIPUR – literally means “ city of
sunrise “, but it is n’t just the sun that rises here, it’s the marble
dreamscape of a floating palace that seems to emerge out of the waters
of Lake Pichola. Two hundred years before the city of Udaipur was
actually found by the Maharans of Chittorgarh, as a fiefdom of Mewar,
Lake Pichola was artificially hollowed-out in the 14th century to create
a lake. The fairy tale Lake Palace Hotels stands within the Lake Pichola.
The City Palace across the lake is the largest palace in Rajasthan and
houses two mahnificent heritage palace hotels, Fateh Prakash & Shiv
Niwas.
Udaipur is a garden city- Sahelion ki Bari with fountains & statuette is
a pleasant spot. Nearby one can visit Rajsamand & Jaisamand lakes,a bird
waters delight. The carved marble wonders of Eklinji, Nagda, Nathdwara
and Ranakpur temples
