A pilgrimage along the Ganges
The sacred river Ganges, the life given, has extended a powerful hold
over the pious Hindus of India. A pilgrimage to its many sacred towns in
the ultimate desire of a Hindu. Survival of ancient customs, rituals and
patterns of life that are peculiar to these towns make them fascinating
destination.
Varanasi, the oldest living city and a centre for learning for over 200o
years, it is the holiest of all the pilgrimage centres located on the
Ganges. The temples with their steps descending to the river, the
ceaseless movements of pilgrims, the impressive back drop of temples and
the ancient mansions built along the ghats are best seen from a boat
cruise on the Ganges. The ghats of Dasaswamedh, Kedar and Manikaran are
also used for the last rites and funeral pyre for the Hindus who feel
they would achieve salvation by breathing their last at Varanasi and
being at the ghats of the Gnages.

Day 01
Arrive Delhi. Met by India calling Representative and
transfer to hotel.
Day 02
Transfer to airport for flight to Allahabad. Transfer to
hotel.
An ancient holy city for the Hindus, the city was known as Prayag owing
to the Sangam (confluence) of the three rivers Ganga, Yamuna and the
mythical Saraswati, site of the famous Kumbh Mela festival held every 12
years. The name Allah –Abad was given by a Emperor Akber 1580. Afternoon
take boat cruise to the site of the Sangam.
Day 03
Morning visit Anand Bhawan ( the ancestral home of the Nehru
Family, the Fort dating back to 1581 with an Ashoka Pillar dating to 232
BC is located within the Fort, Khushru Bagh, Allahabad Museum. Afternoon
transfer to railway station for train to Varnasi, travel in
aircondtioned sleeper class. On arrival transfer to hotel.
Day 04
Early morning boat cruise on River Ganges to watch the sun
rise, on your cruise you be passing by the various Ghats. Thereafter
visit Vishwanath temple dedicated to Lord Shiva built in 1776 AD by rani
Ahalyabai Holkar of the Indore State, visit Bharat Mata Temple and Tulsi
Manas Temple.
Afternoon visit the ancient Buddhist city of Sarnath where Gautam Buddha
preached his first sermon, visit Dhamukh Stupa, Chowkhandi Stupa,
Mulagandhakutio Vihar ( temple), museum with an Ashoka pillar erected in
3rd century BC during the visit of Emperor Ahoka of the Maurya dynasty.
Day 05
Transfer to airport for flight to Khajurhao. Transfer to
hotel. Afternoon visit the Chandela Temples.
Overnight at the hotel.
Day 06
Transfer to airport for flight to Delhi to connect flight for
onward journey.
