A Marker for the Drive
Day 01
Arrive Mumbai. Met by India
Calling Representative and transfer to hotel.
Day 02
Drive to Chembur for a game of
golf at Presidency Golf Club with 18 holes, par 70. The course was
redesigned by Peter Thompson. The fairways are narrow and tight and a
real test with the Vexing sea breeze which can fox the most seasoned
player. Afternoon tour visiting Prince of Wales Museum, Mani Bhawan,
Mahalaxmi Temple, Kamla Nehru Park, Hanging Garden, Crawford Market,
Victoria Terminus. Evening at leisure of Marrine drive and Chowpatty
Beach.
Overnight at the hotel.
Day 03
Morning motor launch excursion to
Elephanta Cave Island. Afternoon transfer to airport for flight to
Bangalore. On arrival transfer Club House ( built in 1876) of Bangalore
Golf Club. Evening relax at the bar which has very interesting
memorabilia’s since its foundation in 1876.
Day 04
A game of gold on the 18 hole
course. Apart from natural obstructions of tall tree, deep ditches, the
major unnatural hazard are the crows who mistake the golf balls as their
“ eggs”, sweep down on the fairways, pick-up the balls, drop them at a
distance, realizing their mistake. The game is challenging with dry and
sandy fairways, the greens are lush and well maintained.
Afternoon city tour visiting Cubbon park, High Court, Vidhana Soudha and
Lallbagh. Spend the evening at the Club House or explore the city’s many
trendy pubs and discotheques. Overnight at Club House.
Day 05
Morning transfer to airport to
board flight for Chennai. Transfer to hotel. Afternoon tee off at the
Madras Gymkhana Club. This 18 hole course, par 70, is set within the
2400 meters oval of the Gvindy Race Course, with more often, than
desired and unpredictable obstruction with the race horses on the
routine work outs.
Afternoon visit Fort St George, St Mary’s Church, San Thome Basilica,
Parthasarathy Temple. Evening relax on Marina Beach, the 2nd longest
beach in the world.
Day 06
Morning a game of golf at Madras
Cosmopolitan Club Golf Annexe. The 18 hole – par 72 course has been
redesigned by Peter Thompson with a liberal use of lateral water
hazards, making the game very trickly. Thereafter drive to Mamallapuram
(Mahabalipuram). This little town is perfect gem of Pallava art ( 6th to
8th century AD). A beautiful beach with casurina trees an idyllic resort
for a holiday.
Day 07
Morning visit the 9 cave temples
scooped out of a huge rock, representing the earliest stage in the
evolution of Dravidian temple architecture , Pancha Pandava Rathas,
Arjuna’s Penace – a fascinating monument carved on the face of an
immense rock ( 27 mts long and 9 mts wide) with a profusion of figures
of animals, birds, human beings and Gods and Goddess. Later drive to
Chennai airport to board flight to Mumbai for onward journey.
